When calibration is the right answer
Three things have to be true at once. The gap is modest, it repeats at more than one setting, and the oven is otherwise well: it comes up to heat in a sensible time, holds steady once it arrives, and does not swing while the food is in. Meet all three and an adjustment puts the dial back in step with the cavity, with nothing replaced and nothing ordered.
When it would hide something
An offset is a correction, not a repair. Apply one to an oven drifting because a probe is failing, a connector is warming up or an element is weak, and the numbers look right for a fortnight before the same complaint returns — with the evidence now painted over. The visit therefore measures first and adjusts second.
What the visit covers
The oven is brought up and read on the rack rather than on the display, at more than one setting, across a full cycle. Where the control provides a stored offset it is set and then proved on a second run. Where it does not, the fault belongs to the hardware, and you are told which part and which band before anything is ordered. Either way the visit itself is $89, and that $89 comes off the work if you go ahead.
