When it is the module, and when it is not
One burner clicking on its own, the rest of the cooktop behaving, is almost never the module. The pattern that points at it is shared: several electrodes firing from one knob, every burner going silent at once, or a spark carrying on after the flame is up.
That last one deserves separating out. A module can be kept sparking by a switch that never opens, and the fix then sits in the switch bank. Both land in the same band, which is why the diagnosis is worth more than the guess.
What proves it before anything is ordered
Readings, in order: the gap and the ceramic at each electrode, the leads along their run for chafe or a burn mark, then the supply into the module and what leaves it. A module is condemned on a measurement, because condemning one by swapping it is an expensive way to learn what a meter answers in minutes.
Along the sand — Manhattan Beach, Hermosa Beach, El Segundo — leads and crimps fail more often than the module: salt reaches the burner-end connection first.

The part, whichever leads go with it, and the work of reaching it, which on most installations means the knobs and fascia off. Every burner is then lit and watched: a module job that ends without that testing comes back as a second call.
